Courses recognise exporting skills

West Yorkshire exporters are being offered the opportunity to develop their training and gain recognition of their professionalism by studying locally.

The Institute of Export and the Mid-Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce are working together to provide export training and to raise professional standards in international trade management and export practice.

The Mid-Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce is offering individuals and companies the chance to study for the Institute of Export Advanced Certificate in International Trade (ACIT) which focuses on the practical aspects of international trade.

Students who have successfully completed the ACIT can apply for Associate Membership of the Institute of Export and are entitled to use the suffix of AMIEx. They can also study for the Diploma in International Trade.

The ACIT syllabus has four modules; The Business Environment; Finance and Foreign Trade; Operating in a Global Economy and International Physical Distribution. These modules are taken over two nights – Monday/Wednesday – studying two modules each night – from 6pm to 8pm.

The next course will commence in September 2007 – subject to numbers – with students taking their examinations in June 2008. The course fees are £499.00 (+VAT).

The Diploma in International Trade syllabus also has four modules and on successful completion students will qualify for graduate membership of the Institute of Export and be entitled to use the suffix MIEx (Grad). The course fees are £575.00 (+VAT).
