Important UKTI announcement – improvements to services

Mark Robson, International Trade Director for Yorkshire and the Humber has news of improvements to the way UK Trade & Investment delivers services across the region.

The last few months have been very busy ones for all our staff.  Major changes have taken place across the region in line with the restructuring of business support services delivered through Business Link in the region.

The most important of these changes for readers of TradeYorkshire is that on 1 April the four regional teams will be consolidated into one single team serving Yorkshire and the Humber.  This will not just save public money: it will allow us to provide a consistent approach to international trade support across the region.

Staff will be based across the region with regional support facilities and a head office at Capital Court adjacent to junction 37 of the M1 at Barnsley. This new arrangement will create a better support team for ITAs and also allow us to offer a more targeted service to many businesses; as well as a greater range of opportunities for businesses to meet buyers and our overseas staff.

In most cases the transition to the new structure will be seamless, and many of you will still have the same International Trade Advisor.  Contact details however will change, and these are listed in the box below. 

I do hope that you will notice a step change in the quality of our service as these changes take effect.  Jointly with Yorkshire Forward, we continue to be committed to providing the highest quality of service to our region’s exporters.
