Congratulations!
Digital camera prize for Yorkshire businesswoman

Liz Devine-WrightLiz Devine-Wright, a successful businesswoman from North Yorkshire, has won a digital camera for completing a simple survey on the TradeYorkshire website.

Liz, who works as PA to the Directors of Lambert Engineering, as well as running two businesses, said she was delighted to scoop the prize – a 10 megapixel Canon Ixus 900Ti digital camera worth over £250.

TradeYorkshire ran the survey in January, asking people for their comments about the website.

“I read about the survey in an email and thought it seemed so simple that I completed it,” said Liz. “I wouldn’t usually complete surveys at all, but I did because it was so short and simple – in fact I can’t really even remember completing it!

“This made it even more of a surprise when I found out I’d won. It really made my day!”.

Liz said she tended to visit the website after receiving the TradeYorkshire monthly email newsletter, and found the resources section helpful.

“Years ago, I used to deal with all the shipping in the company, so I am quite interested in that type of information,” she explained. “I find the monthly newsletter useful as it links to all different areas of the website and the information is very interesting.”

Liz works full-time at Lambert Engineering in Tadcaster, which designs and manufactures special purpose machinery, which is then shipped world-wide. The company also sends engineers out to install the machines at their respective destinations.

She also owns a hat shop in Tadcaster called Simply Devine, which she runs with her mum, Joy Devine.  Joy does the day-to-day running of the shop and the buying of stock, while Liz deals with the business side of things.  The mother and daughter team set up the shop three years ago, and specialise in glamorous wedding and race hats as well as fascinators and jewellery.  They distribute their headwear world-wide, and have even received an order for a hat from US pop star Christina Aguilera.

As if this wasn’t enough to keep Liz busy, she also runs a property business.

“Yes, I am really busy,” she admits, “but the properties look after themselves really once they are developed. It can be a bit manic developing the properties, working full time and looking after Simply Devine but that’s the way I like it.”

Liz is also a member of women’s networking organisation Forward Ladies.
