Awards Evening

The Going Global Dinner and Awards 2010 will attract over 200 businesses from the region along with over 100 international buyers who are taking part in the Going Global – Meet the Buyer Event the following day.

Conor WoodmanGuest Speaker on the evening will be Economist, Author and Star of Channel 4’s Around the World in 80 Trades,  Conor Woodman. Conor decided to test his negotiating skills, charm and eye for a bargain against some of the world's oldest trading cultures. Using £25,000 from the sale of his flat and resigning from his job with a global finance company, Conor decided to put theory into practice and trade his way across four continents and 16 countries as a travelling merchant, trading in all kinds of products: animal, mineral and vegetable; with the aim of doubling his money. His Channel 4 series showed that the principles of trade are universal, life-enhancing and guaranteed to survive the madness of the credit crunch.

Part Undercover Economist, part Apprentice challenge, Conor Woodman’s lessons learned offer an exciting insight into the human story behind the money in our pockets, and reminds us that making a living is about exactly that – living. Join us at the Going Global Dinner and Awards 2010 and discover exactly how the real world economy works.
