Sporting opportunities – London 2012 and beyond

UK suppliers have the opportunity to use the showcase of London 2012 to access business opportunities overseas. But, this chance could be lost unless prompt action is taken, warns UK Trade & Investment (UKTI).

The time between deciding who will host major events to the handing out of contracts by the organising committee is shorter than ever before. This means it is important for British firms to plan now for success beyond 2012.

To help with this UKTI has brought together a collection of experts, representing billions of dollars in contract opportunities, for the Third Annual Conference of the major sport event sector team.

The conference will provide businesses with the opportunity to gain access to decision makers who will be deciding where to spend their money in the coming years. It will also enable firms to hear first hand how these people will be making their decisions and how British companies can improve their chances of tendering successfully.

The conference will also highlight how sports projects can offer access to some of the most exciting world markets.

A number of prestigious headline speakers have already been secured, including Simon Clegg, CEO of the British Olympic Association and Jens Holm, CEO of the International Masters Games Associations.

Key topics to be discussed during the two day event include ‘major sporting events in developing nations’, ‘strategic planning for new business’ and ‘using major events for market entry’.

The conference will take place at the Hilton Deansgate, Manchester, on 1-2 April 2008.

More information is included in the event flyer.
