UK Trade & Investment’s flagship Passport to Export programme is expanding to include designated workshops for legal services in the region.
Passport to Export is an assessment and skills based programme that provides new and inexperienced exporters with the training and ongoing support they need to succeed overseas.
It covers many different aspects of exporting and will now include specialist advice for legal firms.
Mark Robson, regional international trade director for UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) said: “We are particularly excited about this new direction for Passport which has come about as a natural response to the legal issues around international investment and trade.
“Our first workshop will be held on 18th April in Wakefield at the Waterton Park Hotel and will be run in association with The Law Society and therefore it will be fully CPD accredited for those attending.”
Colin Russell, regional sector specialist for professional and business services will be leading the first legal services workshop together with Simon Bedford, regional sector specialist for overseas joint ventures and investments.
The workshop will cover the following topics:
Speaking about the new workshops, Colin said: “For some time now UK Trade & Investment has been working closely with The Law Society to develop a programme which aims to give Yorkshire and Humber legal companies an advantage in their bids for overseas business.
“Our half-day workshop will focus on such areas as how to promote their legal services on the international stage, how to deliver legal services to an overseas client and how to manage the associated business and commercial risk. We have tailored the sessions with a particular awareness of the time constraints for legal companies, putting together a tight training and development workshop as well as an all-important networking opportunity.”
