Trade mission to discover opportunities in Qingdao

Regional companies are invited to take part in a trade mission to Qingdao in February 2008 to find out more about the opportunities on offer in the Chinese Port.

The mission – being led by the Hull & Humber Chamber of Commerce – will coincide with the arrival in Qingdao of the Hull & Humber Clipper, the Yorkshire Forward sponsored yacht which is taking part in the Clipper Round the World Race 2007-08.

A package of networking events is being co-ordinated by the Chamber to promote the Yorkshire & Humber region and regional businesses to the Chinese in positions of influence.

Located in the Yellow River basin and on the western Pacific Rim, the Port of Qingdao is an important hub of international trade and sea-going transportation.

As a port it offers a variety of services and can handle a range of general and bulk cargo and project equipment. The port’s main types of cargo are container, coal, iron ore, crude oil and grain but it also handles fertilizer, alumina, cement, sodium carbonate, rubber, wool pulp, cotton, ironware, lumber and extra-large shipments. Opportunities exist in almost all sectors.

The mission will take place between 20-25 February 2008. The approximate cost is £1,200. There are a limited number of grant funded places (up to 50%) available to eligible companies to join the trade mission. Travel and hotel costs are approximate and may increase nearer the date of departure. To secure a place at a good price please register in good time.
